Youth Coordinator Job Description

Mission: Plan, coordinate and oversee the ministries of United Presbyterian Church Flanders for middle school, high school youth.

Accountability: The youth director will be accountable to the youth elder and the pastor to be evaluated annually by same in conjunction with the personnel committee.

Requirements: Strong personal faith with enjoyment and experience in working with youth.

Relationships: The Youth coordinator will work with the church pastor, youth elder and youth advisory committee.

Time: up to 20 hours/week.

Responsibilities include:
• Act as a role model to the youth in accordance with the creeds and confessions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
• Adhere to all policy and procedures of the United Presbyterian Church as stated in the UPC Policy handbook.
• Implement and supervise balanced programs for the youth of the church to involve service, spiritual development and social events.
• Construct a semi-annual calendar to schedule events at least twice a month including fundraisers, events and service projects.
• Communicate with youth of upcoming events by writing regular bulletin announcements, sending e-mail, and updating information on the church website.
• Work with advisor team prior to events to insure proper resources, supplies, chaperones and drivers to and from events.
• Attend monthly committee night meetings with youth elder and youth advisors and optional youth participation to plan and coordinate youth programs.
• Seek out and encourage advisor participation in an enrichment program or training session at least once a year.
• Submit a monthly written report to session summarizing activities and future plans.
• Submit an annual report for inclusion into the church annual report.
• A time sheet of hours worked will be submitted on the first and fifteenth day of each month. Payment depends on submission of time sheet. Travel expenses and mileage approved by the personnel committee at the prevailing church rate.

Compensation for this position will be determined annually. An evaluation and salary recommendation will be provided by the pastor and youth elder to the personnel committee. Final determination shall be made by the session in consultation with the personnel committee.

Resignation notice of two weeks shall be given by the youth coordinator.

- Lead devotional time and facilitate discussion

Sunday Morning High School Class
- Lead devotional time and facilitate discussion

Additional Involvement
- Assist with Confirmation classes
- Lead teens in service projects and interchurch activities
- Organize and participate in summer mission projects

This is a part-time position requiring an average of 5 to 8 hours per week.
